This is an unused 1930's postcard in pretty good shape...has a few creases and a cut corner but otherwise fine. I am not certain who the General is pictured with Mussolini but the card has Africa with the Italian Hawk superimposed over it so ...?? Italy controlled Eritrea and Somalia in the 1930's but then decided they'd like Abyssinia also and invaded this country in 1935. The invasion was led by General Pietro Badoglio so possibly this is he ? (Now advised by Jim Yates that this is in fact King Victor Emmanuel 111...thanks Jim!) It was the sanctions by the United Nations due to this invasion that caused Italy to form her Alliance with Adolf Hitler's Germany. Marked Cartolina Postale and Grafiche IGAPO Roma, on reverse. Nice historical card.
