We purchased this in England on our last buying trip in May....we were advised this dates to the 1780's. The cap screws onto the base and would also have been used as the Measure for the Black Gunpowder. The Flask measures 7 1/4" in length and is 3" across at the base. A very nice 'hard to find' collectible for those seekers of gun related items.
