This lovely old solid brass CHESTNUT ROASTER has a Windmill scene on the pan lid so probably originated in Holland....there is no makers mark however but the Dutch were big makers of brass ware in the 1800's and early 1900's exporting large quantities of items into England and other European countries. Because of the lovely Windmill and Sailboat decoration being done in repousse this really is a very appealing decorative item for a kitchen or fireside. There are plenty of wear signs but the piece is in good condition is good for age...Circa 1880-1900......and the length is 20 1/4" inches, with the Chestnut Pan being just over 5 1/4" square.
