This Storage Jar is for keeping Powdered Slaked Lime in, which is used as an additive to Betel Nut (Areca Nut with the leaf of Piper Betle). The chewing of Betel Nut is an addictive habit widespread in the Indonesian province of Papua and elsewhere. The lime is obtained from either sea shells and corals or from limestone. The addition of the lime improves the absorption of alkaloid stimulants increasing the drug effectiveness.5 This Lime Jar stands 8 1/2" tall with a 2 1/4" diameter.
